Adolescent Development & Teaching - 1.5 The second Assessment in the unit 102081 - Adolescent Development and Teaching provides an example of meeting the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) of; Standard 1.5 - Differentiate teaching to meet the specific learning needs of students across the full range of abilities. Standard 1.5 is met through critical thinking in regards to understanding and making adjustments based on students in the classroom and the range of differentiating learning factors. This unit provided the basis of knowledge and understanding the importance of differentiating learning to ensure students are able to meet educational outcomes across a full range of abilities. |
Aboriginal & Culturally Responsive Pedagogies - 1.3
In the unit Aboriginal & Culturally Responsive Pedagogies a range of new teaching strategies to cater for the educational needs of students from diverse cultural backgrounds with a focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. In Assessment 2, the 8-ways of learning pedagogical approach was harnessed to design an offsite lesson to teach students of the cultural significance of the Red Hands Cave. The skills learned in this unit have proven to be beneficial in sculpting my pedagogical approach with elements of the 8-ways of learning framework being implemented in day-to-day teaching practice.
Inclusive Education Practices & Principles - 1.1, 1.5 & 1.6
This assessment meets Standards 1.1, 1.5 and 1.6.
This assessment gives Pre-service Teachers experience in preparing a lesson plan that ensures the successful inclusion of a student with a disability or additional need in a class using the universal design for learning framework. The assessment is to be based on a student that a Pre-service Teacher has observed. This assignment had two major parts.
Part 1. Discuss the student’s strengths and areas of need. Describe the student’s learning needs using literature to assist and support observations.
Part 2: Apply the UDL framework to a lesson plan that is considered successful. Students are to demonstrate how this lesson is adaptable, and how it includes your student with additional needs
