Professional Practice Experience 1 - 7.3 The importance of engaging with the wider community is a vital and often forgotten aspect of education. During my Professional Practice Experience 1, I made it a goal to call home to parents of students to reinforce positive behaviour, as well as introduce myself as the pre-service teacher that would be taking their child's class. This saw a positive impact in rapport and classroom management as well as being welcomed by all parents that were called. Similarly during this practicum I made an effort to focus on developing rapport and positive relationships with students. This was a rewarding experience as I saw students begin to grow and take effort in their class work as they showed trust in my teaching to assist them in meeting educational outcomes. |
Professional Practice Community Engagement - 7.4
The end of this unit required students to create a reflection on the experience they encountered while on this practicum. This reflection allowed students to reflect on their practicum experience and growth as an educator. This practicum experience saw pre-service teachers collaborate and work with non-teaching staff and SOLSO's. This practicum allowed me to take a back seat in the classroom and work with students taking on the role of a teachers aid. From this perspective I was able to gather a new understanding of the importance of communication among different teaching staff. In turn this allowed me to reflect on my own teaching practice and previously how I have worked and communicated with others. |
